General
Our first 'Normal' year after Covid. The year was dry and warm with no days lost to the weather although October 23 ended in a deluge. The dry weather meant that there were no track circuit problems due to wet sand and there were almost no cars stuck in the car park. Halloween night was dry, unusually warm and quite busy.
There were usually plenty of engines : the engineering team have been busy and effective and more locos have joined, mainly from the John Butt collection. Also several 'Diesel' locos have arrived. These are actually powered by batteries and electric motors. A downside of these machines is that most can manage only three or four service runs before exhausting their batteries; on the plus side they are 'instant start'.
It is pleasing to report that a significant number of young people are now part of the team and have graduated to become qualified drivers and signallers.
Car Park
In October, more drainage was installed and an area at the bottom of the main car park was skimmed of top soil and a layer of stone laid in its place.
